Marine education and outreach
We currently outreach to young people and local fishermen in several fishing villages in the Nippes region, to teach them about their ocean and the valuable marine life that reside in their waters. We created a Haiti marine guide to showcase key marine species and explain the threats and issues they face. For the fishermen, we focus on educating them on why certain species should be saved and how they can get involved, with the potential benefits to them. The Nippes region fishing villages we currently work in are Petite Riviere de Nippes, Anse a Veau, Petit Trou de Nippes, the Isle of Boman, Grand Boucan and Les Basses (the one village in the Grand’Anse region).
