Emmanuel “Manno” Denis

At 59 years old, Emmanuel has been a local Haitian fishermen for the past 30 years. Growing up in Anse a Veau, Emmanuel spent most of his life at sea. He first realized the importance of juvenile oceanic white tip sharks over five years ago, when he started providing information about this and other sharks species.
He also saved shark jaws, as these species were killed often in his fishing community. Emmanuel became the eyes and ears of Haiti Ocean Project at sea, providing valuable information and pictures. Now, he has even tried to save a few and has become one of the biggest shark advocates for saving these little sharks in Haitian waters! His connection to the all the fishermen in strong, so he is a great resource and ally!
